Taleworlds have kept true to what makes mount and blade, and as a result I've been surprised how very much the same game it feels. So often developers change things for the sequel and you hear loud cries from the fan base about how they've ruined this or that.
The game feels samey, which is an interesting case study in the risk of 'staying true to the game' or the temptation of changing things up. The layers of polish they have put on one of my favorite games ever is just phenomenal.
